Reflection
1. Did your final product end up the way that you have envisioned it?
- I believe that it's very difficult to have an image turn out exactly the way you imagined it when exploring unknown trails, however my final product was similar to what I planned for my final product. My photo manipulation was exactly how I imagined it would turn out.
2. Describe the process of taking this / these photograph(s); the location(s); lighting arrangements, planning, etc.
- In the summer, I like to explore forests: on and off of the trails, exploring so deep that the only thing I'm surrounded by is trees.
- After the independent photo project was assigned, I started going on walks in the early evening on trails that I had never explored before. I would take 200 pictures throughout my walks, but I wasn't completely satisfied with how my pictures were turning out.
- In my proposal, I said that I wanted to take my pictures in forests and trails around Oakville. I also wanted to shoot some portrait and candid shots.
- The location that I used for my final product is Sixteen Mile Creek.
- I wanted to use my friend Michelle as my model for my project, and I used her in my final product.
- Since I went at in the late afternoon/early evening, the lighting was perfect for my shots. I also used fill flash in some of my portraits.
3. What ideas, techniques or styles have you used in this project that was learned in this course?
- In my image that was not manipulated, I used formalism: colour, leading lines, shape, texture. I also use fast shutter to get a still of the moving water.
- In my manipulated image, I used my photoshop skills: reflecting an image, border, text, and hue and saturation to colour the image 2 different colours on each side.
4. Fully assess the success or lack off of this/these photographs.
- I feel like all of my photographs were successful.
- I used several different techniques in my photographs, including formalism, and rule of thirds.
- All of my photos are in focus and backgrounds were blurred when necessary.
- Used several photoshop skills in my manipulated image to make it more complicated.
